Three people were killed Sunday when a fast craft caught fire while sailing to Cebu City from Bohol, according to a report received by the Cebu Coast Guard station.

M/V Island of Island Shipping Corp. was heading to Cebu when it caught fire at 12:10 p.m., said Seaman 2nd Aaron Cagiga of the Cebu Coast Guard.

He said two passengers and one crew member were killed. Their names were not immediately available.

A still undetermined number of people were hurt, Cagiga added.

Cagiga said Cebu Coast Guard sent a rescue team to M/V Island, which was located about four nautical miles from the Aduana port in Cebu City.

Cagiga said crew members of Seajet fast craft and a vessel of Lite Ferry, which happened to be near the vicinity, helped the passengers.

Luoy pood ang mga tawo nga namatay. May God have mercy on their souls, and may God comfort the afflicted families.
