Dolphy Passes Away Today - Farewell Dolphy
« on: July 10, 2012, 09:24:10 PM »
Veteran actor-comedian Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon passed away Tuesday evening, a few days before he celebrates his 84th birthday on July 25, his common-law-wife Zsa Zsa Padilla has confirmed to ABS-CBN.

TV anchor Karen Davila also confirmed the report in a Tweet quoting Padilla Tuesday night.
Dolphy was taken to the Makati Medical Center last June 9 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and has been confined since then at the intensive care unit.
Dolphy was a talent of ABS-CBN for years before he moved to TV5. - inquirer.net

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

"Madaling tumakbo, pero paano kung manalo?" (dolphy's famous words when politicians, hoping for a free ride on his popularity, courted him to run for public office)

Several years ago, the great comedian Dolphy Quizon was asked why he has never run for public office. His answer made him greater in my eyes: “What if I win?” The answer is simply brilliant because Dolphy knew that politics is not about winning elections; it is about running government. The real comedy that not even a comedian can teach us is this: we don’t know the difference. We think the winning candidate makes for a winning public official. Or maybe we’ve become too jaded and don’t care anymore. http://angperegrino.com/tag/dolphy/

a lot of people really admire actors and actresses who never take advantage of their fame by giving in to the lust for political power.

As it happens, many elected officials turn out to be comedians--in the pejorative sense of the term.
