Even if the number of cases this year may be lower than last year's, the deadly dengue brought about by mosquito aedis egypti bite has killed at least three as of last count.
According to the Provincial Health Office the fatalities were Renz Joseph Parede, 5 years old and resident of Panggangan, Calape, Bohol; Carin Carlon, 4, of Cabilao Island, Loon, Bohol; and Josh Jander Libres, 3, of barangay Cayacay, Alicia, Bohol.
PHO through statistician Merlyn Nemenzo said that most of the victims are children ranging from five and 14 years olds.
There was already a total of 115 who are affected by the disease, PHO said. Forty cases have been documented during the month of February; March, 8; April, 12; May, 11; June, 6; and July, 5.
It will be recalled that more than 1,600 cases have been reported in 2007 that surpassed previous year's record.
