DA BUILDS P14-M COLD STORAGE
IN VEGETABLE PRODUCTION AREA

The Department of Agriculture (DA) is constructing a P14-million cold storage facility in Miarayon, Talakag, Bukidnon to support the vegetable production in a region with a vast area estimated at 50,000 hectares.

The Cold Storage will be the first of several post harvest facilities expected to be established in the vegetable production area of Bukidnon located in the towns of Impasugong, Malaybalay, Talakag, Sumilao and Lantapan or IMMTASULA.

When operational, the Cold Storage will serve as the consolidation area for high value vegetables produced in the Miarayon Region nestled in between the Kitanglad and Kalatungan Mountain Ranges with an elevation of over 1,200-meters above sea level.

The construction followed the ground-breaking ceremonies during the Mindanao Vegetable Derby held in Miarayon on Dec. 5 with Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista representing the Agriculture Department.

The IMMTASULA Region is the major vegetable production area of Mindanao supply the market of Mindanao and Cebu with Potatoe, Cabbage, Carrots, Lettuce, Broccoli and Cauliflower.

Discovered by the DA during the Luzon vegetable crisis in 2017, the IMMTASULA Region is now a special focus area for government interventions including irrigation, farm to market roads, technology transfer and post harvest facilities.

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has focused on the development of the area in coordination with other agencies as part of its program to increase the productivity and reduce poverty in Mindanao.

Last year, MinDA invited several seed production companies, including soil nutrition and plant protection agencies, to a season-long Mindanao Vegetable Derby during which farmers were taught modern technology in vegetable farming.

At the end of the season, outstanding farmers were awarded and the participating companies were given commendations for their support.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
