Press Release - 25 June 2021— In an effort to strengthen its stakeholders’ engagement, the BOC Port of Cebu hosted a virtual General Stakeholders’ Meeting last Wednesday, 23 June 2021, via Zoom.
The virtual forum was participated by the officers of the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (CCBI)–Cebu Chapter and members of various industries from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PhilExport Cebu, and the Federation of Ecozone Service Providers—Visayas Chapter.
District Collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza was joined by Deputy District Collectors Shirley N. Abarintos, Lemuel Erwin P. Romero, and Marc Anthony C. Patriarca, Port Collectors Gerardo A. Campo and Fe Lluelyn G. Toring, and the Port’s division and unit heads.
In his opening remarks, District Collector Mendoza asked the attendees, “How can we serve you better? How can we improve our communication with you? How can we increase compliance from you? How can we make you feel safer in transacting with the BOC?” He likewise encouraged the attendees to raise not only questions of clarifications and procedure, but also critical questions that would get the Port exploring possibilities for improvement and new ways of doing things.
Among the topics discussed were examination requirements and procedures in the processing of shipments, measures on managing container traffic, and improvement of exportation procedures.
Last week, the Port met with the newly inducted officers of the CCBI-Cebu Chapter led by its President, Ronald P. Grancho, to discuss plans and programs for public and private partnership during their two-year term.
The engagements are part of the Bureau’s commitment to strengthen the participation of the stakeholders in its trade facilitation efforts.
