Breaking News - Earthquake in Japan - Tsunami in Philippines
« on: March 11, 2011, 04:06:05 PM »
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday afternoon warned ships off the Philippine Coast to head towards the nearest harbor or coastal area so they can avoid an impending tsunami following a big earthquake which hit Japan.

PCG commander Adm. Wilfredo Tamayo said they have issued a “notice to mariners” on all kinds of ships.

Tamayo said “A Notice to Mariners” advises mariners of important matters affecting navigational safety, including new hydrographic information, changes in channels and aids to navigation, and other important data.

The powerful earthquake which struck off Japan's north-eastern coast, shook buildings in the Japanese capital of Tokyo, forcing people out of their homes, authorities said.

Japan issued its most serious tsunami warning, saying a wave as high as 6 m (20ft) could strike the coast near Miyagi prefecture.

Officials said the 8.8-magnitude quake struck about 250 miles (400km) from Tokyo at a depth of 20 miles. Television pictures showed a wave crashing into the Pacific coast. The surge of water carried cars and ships as it surged through a coastal town. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

O God, Who brought our fathers through the Red Sea and carried them safely through the deep as they sang praises of Thy name, we humbly beseech Thee to guard Thy servants aboard ship, and having repelled all adversities, bring them to the desired port after a calm voyage. Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who livest and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end.
Amen.
