Twin toddlers drowned in a deep well in San Isidro village, Pillar town, Bohol.
Twins Justin and Jansen Mauna, one year and 11 months old, would have celebrated their second birthdays next month.
Martin Mauna, the father of the twins, said he and his wife had to work at their farmland so they left Justin and Jansen in the care of his 10-year-old son, John Philip on Monday.
The victims' father said John Philip failed to notice that his twin brothers had left their house while watching television.
The twins might have walked to the family-owned deep well just a few meters from the house, he added.
Responding policemen from Pillar town said the twins were found embracing each other while floating lifeless in the deep well.
The well was around 10 meters deep and was almost filled with water due to the recent heavy rains, according to the police.
Nearby residents reportedly heard the twins crying but never thought that they fell into the well, which had no cover.
Rescuers brought the twins to the municipal health office but Dr. Ma. Luisa Tango, municipal health officer, declared the two boys dead on arrival.
