The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) hoisted Public Storm Signal No. 2 in Cebu, Bohol, Northern Negros, Guimaras Island, and Iloilo Monday afternoon as the weather disturbance “Lando” intensified from a tropical depression into a storm.

The storm blew through Central Visayas around 4 p.m., packing winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 80 kph near the center and was expected to cross the inland waters of the Visayas, moving west northwest at 13 kph.

Signal No. 1 was raised in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, the rest of the Negros provinces, Siquijor, Cuyo Island, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Island, Western Samar, Eastern Samar, Camotes Island, and Biliran Island.

"Tropical Storm Lando is moving west northwest and is expected to cross the Visayas this evening," said Nathaniel Cruz, PAGASA weather branch chief.

The storm did not weaken despite making landfall since it did not hit a huge mass of land when it left Surigao and hovered over the seas on its way to Cebu, Cruz said in a television interview.

"Definitely, the Visayas will continue to experience stormy, especially in areas where storm signals are up," Cruz said.

A woman here was injured when a landslide hit her house in La Guerta, Barangay (village) Lahug .

At the height of the storm, the strong winds felled trees and some billboards, causing traffic jams in major Metro Cebu streets.

PAGASA said the storm will be in the vicinity of Cuyo Island, 130 kph west of Iloilo city on Tuesday afternoon.

I  thank you Mike for the up to date news. At this month, we have a stormy weather, right? What makes me scared is the successive light earthquakes occured Bohol recently.  Just remember 2005, was home for 4 weeks..we had  3 weeks monsoon rain and lucky enough it was only during nightime.

We are fine here in the Bohol province. We only experienced some small heavy rain showers nothing more.

I think what is the most bizare weather we had here in Bohol was about one month ago when we had hail pounding on top of our GI roofs.
In my six years of living here in Bohol I do not think or recall ever having such an out of the normal weather system hit here.

Hail is frozen smaller then golfball shaped moisture that pass's through the clouds that are associated with high up above electrical and thunder storms often.

There are three types of hail classifications, and the names and definitions can be found here on your electronic funk and wagnol! (PC-Encyclopedia)

As far as the typhoon, Bohol was not affected not even by the winds.

I was waiting up all night for some excitement to happen but nothing happened

Believe me if it had I am the usually the one who would be the one living here to be the first tolet you know if anything happened here in Bohol itself.

Raindrops keep falling on our heads!........................Thats it only.

Thanks, Mike, for the news!  I talked to my family today in Tagbilaran and they confirmed the heavy rain but the wind was not that bad.  Let's pray the condition will not worsen.
