So logically, who should we believe ? people caught up in the "cause of the moment" ? or people who really have a vested interest in war or no war ? either way, it wont affect the northern students, but the southern students see that fighting back is the only way to stop the violence.
Personally, I have family in mindanao and the things they don't tell us that are happening are just plain atrocious. So I am inclined to support the war. Because I trust my family who have no reason to lie to me.
Why is this related, well, Ate Ging, are you in the US ? do you have family that live here ? I hope this does not come out the wrong way, the only reason I ask is that, Do you have a vested interest in the future or the way of life here in the US ? Because if you do or don't that changes your perspective a little. If I am living in the Philippines right now and my life won't be affected, I couldnt care less about the US economy, I don't think I will go for a conservative old man, but probably support Obama because he seems to be the charismatic popular choice...but since I am here, I support "the lesser evil". McCain won't be my first choice, I just don't believe in Obama.
My point with his being an illegitimate child was this : he should be more grateful that everything he has ever had in his life, except for the color of his skin was given to him by his white family. Yes, he mentions that side of the family, but how often really ? I know in Politics, you have to capitalize on what you have, but c'mon, minimizing the other half of him ? You don't hear him campagning and reaching out to Caucasian communities, but all you see on the news, FOX news ( I don't watch CNN or NBC since they are largely democratic and biased) is that most of his programs are geared towards welfare and basically making life easier for those people who are already doing nothing. That is unfair to those of us who actually get up at the crack of dawn to work for everything we've got.
watch this , a typical Obama supporter here in the US.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agAvKP-NnjUAs for the tax, with all due respect Ging, most small businesses here do make $250k above. Its not considered rich. BUT, that $250k is just gross income, expenses, salary etc still has to come out of that. So if taxes are raised on small business, all they can do to survive is 2 things, pass the cost to the consumer, or terminate an employee. That will result in a rise in uneployment and a higher cost of goods. If more small companies go belly up, there will be no competition in the market and you know the rest. basic economics. So we really need tax breaks for those people who are trying. I mean, think about it, would you be all ambitious and get up every morning to work hard if you know that as soon as you hit that $250k mark, your taxes will automatically go up? its easy to get there specially with a lot of our fellow pinoy nurses who work 2-3 hospitals at $30-$60/hr.
I can see the how people making below $50k won't be taxed or the tax credits, it would be ideal and it would be nice. Might surprise you to note, I actually do listen to the other side. But, even in our beloved homeland, Do you really think they can push that into fruition ? Seriously, in both countries, when we talk of higher taxes, it becomes a reality almost instantly, but tax cuts in this magnitude ? I don't think it will happen in the next 4 years. In fact, not holding my breath for it.
Then you'd argue, what about tax cuts for businesses. Well, a lot of businesses pay a lot of money into supporting their candidates, the big ones at least, so its easier for them to get a tax cut. The average person here, heck, we don't give to political campaigns, we need our money for ourselves than give it to to people who already have it, so there goes the motivation. I mean, if it was you, would you work harder for a paying job or a job that doesnt pay you anything ? :-)
As to his religion, different sources, different things. I've personally seen fox news, you tube (if it wasnt pulled yet) and wikipedia (not sure about this one ha) , Apparently, our boy was once very proud of his muslim religion prior to 9/11, then he just shusshed. I mean, ikaw ba pud, ma proud ba diay sad ka after ana. I know not all muslims are bad. But just humor me nalang gud, personally, mahadlok jud ko ug muslim. 1 because of our very own Abu Sayyaf in Mindanao and 2, my brother in law is in the US marines. if I start with how the muslims in the middle east torture their own people, it will take all day. Just go to
www.Ogrish.com . it gave me the chills.
Also, in a poll on Fox, the Iranian president, Kim jong il and Hugo Chavez actually prefers Obama. Again people, ayaw sa kasuko. As I've said, McCain is not my first choice, but since they like Obama, I don't like him . What does this imply, they think that Obama is a weakling. In fairness, he doesnt have the war experience Mccain has, He doesnt have a child in the military like McCain, Palin and Biden have. But what is scary about this is that, if they think that he is "b***t" (sa ato pang binugoy nga language), we will be looking at another possible terrorist attack. And we won't know where its gonna be coming from. Mura ba ug "gulat-gulat" sa ato. Di ba, naa ubang taw nga mokuyos lang, mao na maoy sigehan ug sug-sug or maoy kalingawan, pero tong dili gani ma 'gulat", wala gyud manghilabot ? ingana ra gud sad akong point.
