CUSTOMS 101:
An Authority To Release Imported Goods (ATRIG) allows the Bureau of Customs to release imported goods upon payment of applicable taxes or proof of exemption from the payment thereof.
An Authority To Release Imported Goods (ATRIG) is an authority issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to the Commissioner of Customs allowing the release of imported goods from customs custody upon payment of applicable taxes, or proof of exemption from the payment thereof, whichever is applicable.
An ATRIG must be secured for all importations of commodities subject to excise tax (whether exempt or taxable), and on all importations of goods exempted from VAT. It must be issued before the release of the excisable or VAT-exempt goods from customs custody.
