Negros needs steady power supply to fuel services sector's growth
To further develop Negros Occidental's service sector, the province needs additional power facilities and a reliable power supply, according to the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI). Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental, currently hosts BPO and KPO firms that employ more than 30,000 people. MBCCI CEO Frank Carbon said it will be hard for the province to entice and attract more investors if it does not have reliable power. However, Carbon acknowledged that additional power facilities and reliable power supply also requires a lot of investment. Currently, Negros Occidental gets 70% of its power supply from Cebu, Leyte, and Panay Island. - PR
