87 cats rescued from Hurricane Isaac

by James Lautner
Senior Cats Editor
September 2, 2012

There have been many unhappy cat stories in the news recently I thought you might like a more uplifting one about some cats rescued from the hurricane.  It appears that before it hit animal charities did some great work moving cats from its path.  According to the Mail Online:

The SPCA took 87 cats and 60 dogs from New Orleans in Louisiana after Isaac lashed the area earlier this week leaving a trail of carnage in its wake.

The cats and dogs were taken to Texas.

Lucky cats were inside at home when the storm struck

In a separate move the Animal League also undertook a lifesaving operation prior to the event as reported here:

Since Hurricane Katrina it seems animal charities have really begun to get their act together in preparing for future catastrophic events.

But don’t forget all those kitties that need re-homing. In the current economy an increasing number of people are abandoning their pets.  Surprising but the number of cat owners is decreasing and many others cannot afford vets bills.  Our view at Pussington Post is that those of us that can help should seriously consider what they can do.

 :'( :'( :'(
salamat nga wa ko makakita ato.  sukad ko nakakita sa natgeo channel more than 10 years ago ug zebra nga gikaon ug lion, never na gyod ko motan-aw ug natgeo channel.

in fact, with that ug mag-away pa gyod mi ni banana republic kay gusto niya channel ug boxing, ako gustog channel ug ice figure skating, unya ang mga bata magkawatkawat ug tan-aw kun molakaw ko bisag allowed lang sila motan-aw friday evening to saturday evening (pag-uli nako, init ang tv kun akong hikapon), wa na gyod miy tv.  if that box becomes a contentious issue in the family, better not to have that box.

p.s. wa ba baliki tong nabiyaan intawon?  basin ug gibalikan, or there were rescue teams...

nakakita pa gyod ko sa una pa kaayo ug mga caged unggoy, for their brains to be eaten raw.  motudlo lang ang customer asa iyang gusto, diha-diha, buhi pa ang unggoy, kuhaon ang skull aron ma-exposed ang brains para kaonon.  where was this?  northern china man tingali to... gahilak kog gasuka tungod kay ang mga unggoy intawon moluhod, mangayog pakimalooy to have their lives spared.  it's a cruel world with cruel human beings. :'(

Kung makatan-aw ka ato Ma'am Isles, I'm sure one week (or more) to nimo hilakan..

swerte gyod gihapon ko nga wa ko katan-aw.  okay lang unta kun di pa ko helpless.  wa man gyod intawon koy mahimo...

sometime last month...  precarious man gyod intawon among residence diri sa manila.  it's an 18-storey building, mao nga medyo wary ko for emergencies, like fires and earthquakes.  because i'm alone most of the time, naa koy permanent emergency bag nga puniton lang diretso kun magkalisod.  contents: a day's change of clothes, legal documents, cash and jewelry, medicines.

anyway, kausa, ni-dingdong ang roving guard; he asked calmly if i was cooking something that was burning.  i wasn't.  the corridor had an alarming presence of smoke, i noticed.  my knees turned to jelly.

i did the following, in this order: called the banana republic, put our cat in his carrier, picked up the emergency bag, carried both the carrier and bag to the corridor, locked our door, and waited for the banana republic.

magkalisod ang kalibotan, unahon gyod nakog dala ang buhi.  second priority lang ang emergency bag.

pag-abot ni banana republic after 10 minutes,  salamat nga wa ko niya kataw-i, ako ra usa ang nagtindog sa corridor with my 2 precious cargo, one for each hand.  way laing ready mo-evacuate or way laing tawo kay nanrabaho sila.  ang tinuod, ako ra ang tarantitit.

happy ending.  ang aso tungod diay kay wa masirhi ang garbage chute pag-fogging sa ubos, mao nga ang aso nisaka.  hinaot nga false alarm lang unta kanunay ang mahinabo, with the grace of god.  and our cat will never be left behind.

how nice of your family and how cute of the animals...

ang mga hayop kuno ang mag-una ug sense ug danger, mao nga kun kahibawo ta mobasa sa ilang unusual behavior, we can be duly warned.  tinuod kaha ni?
