The drive to rid the city of illicit business operations is in full swing.
Only yesterday, City Mayor Dan Neri Lim lowered the boom on four business establishments which were found to have operated sans business and mayor’s permits.
Mark Leo Monton, chief of the city’s general service office and the mayor’s chief enforcer against erring business establishments, identified the four as Bohol Heritage Resort in Mansasa district this city, Seoul Restaurant & KTV also in Mansasa, Ruchelle Computers and A’AS Stop N Dine. Ruchelle Computers is the newly opened branch of the computer dealer at the Aldea Shopping Complex along CPG Avenue, this city. The restaurant is located under the shade of a big acasia tree along CPG North Avenue. Fronting the restaurant is a row of stalls owned by lawyer Victor de la Serna.
The acasia is part of the de la Serna-owned property.
The Korean Restaurant & KTV is located inside the compound of a seaside residential house owned by Marilyn Magat, a known buyer of antiques.
The palatial residence was converted into a resort complex named Bohol Heritage Resort. After several renovations of the property, the owners decided to convert it into a resort, with two karaoke bars and a restaurant christened as Café Margarita.
The other KTV Bar owned by the Magats and named Club Heat was long closed apparently due to lack of business patronage. This according to Mrs. Magat who was interviewed Friday after the closure order was served.
The resort owner, however, refused to acknowledge the closure order.
The Korean-owned KTV had long been the object of complaints by neighboring residents. The neighbors said they were disturbed when the bar opened until the wee hours of dawn.
The Post learned that a formal complaint by concerned neighbors was lodged before the Mansasa barangay council. The same council forwarded the complaint to the city mayor’s office prompting Mayor Lim to order its closure Friday.
The order to padlock the establishments was in line with the penal clause of City Ordinance No.RC-001 Article A of Section 3A. The local ordinance states that any person who shall establish, operate and conduct any business, trade or activity mentioned in this article in the City of Tagbilaran shall first obtain a mayor’s permit.
