Press Release - As the Philippines assumed its Chairmanship for the ASEAN Customs during the 30th ASEAN Directors-Generals of Customs Meeting held last June 8-10, 2021, the Philippines will also ascend and take the responsibility of chairing the Customs Coordinating Committee (CCC) with its objectives on further enhancing the coordination of activities and actions of ASEAN Customs Integration and having the role of being the regional coordinator of the ASEAN Technical Working groups namely; the Working Group on Customs Enforcement and Compliance, the Working Group on Customs Capacity Building and the Working Group on Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation along with the sub-working groups under its purview particularly; the Sub-Working Group on ASEAN Customs Transit System, Sub-Working Group on ASEAN AEO MRA, Technical Sub-Working Group on Classification, as well as the ASEAN Single Window Steering Committee and the ASEAN Single Window Technical Working Group.
The CCC will be chaired by Atty. Marietta D. Zamoranos, Head of the External Affairs Office as appointed by Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero by virtue of the Customs Special Order No. 92-2021. The Chairmanship of the CCC shall ensue until the 31st ASEAN Directors-General meeting, on June 2022, which will be subsequently chaired by Singapore Customs.
Chairperson Atty. Zamoranos extended her congratulations to the Myanmar Customs on their successful Chairmaship for 2020-2021. According to her, the ASEAN has worked tirelessly in achieving its goals through the various contribution of each ASEAN Member States amid the challenges brought upon by the pandemic.
