The three children of executed domestic worker Flor Contemplacion were sentenced to life imprisonment and meted a fine of P500,000 each for selling illegal drugs.
In a phone interview on Tuesday evening, Judge Agripino Morga of the regional trial court (RTC) Branch 32 in San Pablo City, Laguna, confirmed the conviction of brothers Sandrex, in his mid-30s; and Joel and Jun-jun, both in their late 20s, in a 14-page decision promulgated on March 1.
The court also ordered their transfer from the city jail to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
The brothers were arrested in a shabu buy-bust operation conducted by the local city police and anti-drug agents in Barangay (village) Sta. Isabel in San Pablo on October 20, 2005.
Since their arrest, the defendants failed to submit any counter-affidavit.
Flor Contemplacion, who caused a diplomatic irritant between the Philippines and Singapore, was executed by hanging in Singapore in 1995, after she was convicted of killing a fellow Filipina domestic helper, Delia Maga, and Maga’s four-year-old Singaporean ward.
Contemplacion’s husband, Efren, and his live-in partner Violeta, meanwhile, remain in jail, also in San Pablo, after they were arrested for drug pushing in 2008.
