« on: January 14, 2008, 03:44:13 AM »
Pres. Carlos P Garcia, Bohol - Two persons met their untimely death while two others are still missing when the motorboat they were boarding sunk some 20-30 meters into docking off the shoreline of island barangay Tugas this town Wednesday night.

The fatalities are identified as Arsenia Jugarap Ocon, 56 and Maria Jugarap Guimbarda, 60, all married. Missing are spouses Luciano Aclan, 58 and Delia Aclan, 55, all residents of said barangay.

Search operations are going on as of presstime, while the ill-fated vessel was already retrieved.
Investigation conducted by OIC PNP Chief SPO4 Alfredo Palatan disclosed that M/B Marjie with 18 passengers aboard including the operator and a crew, at about 5 o’clock late in the afternoon sailed off from Ubay port. Accordingly, at about 7 p.m. while the vessel was approaching barangay Tugas shoreline, it was hit by big waves.

The medical personnel of the local Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Hospital led by Dr. Eric Penetrado checked the physical status of surviving passengers.

Vessel owner Gemma Jugarap, 45, is also a resident of barangay Tugas.
SPO4 Palatan said that M/B Marjie, of which license as a fishing boat has expired, was nevertheless hired by the victims to transport. (w/ report from Glen Boyles)

Most or all communities should offer some sort of recreational courses in swimming and a class often known as boat safety class where you learn what to do in an emergency situation such as a boating accident and such other water incident accidents.
You can actually blow up your pants (Jeans) and tie them off once they are filled up and put it around your neck and it will help keep you afloat and keep your head above the water.
It was a neat class I really liked it and learned from it when I was younger.
You would love the class on swimming have them teach you floating techniques first so you can get to know how to properly handle your body in water according to it's buoyancy.

When I hear of missing person from drowning in the water I get paranoid to return to that area of water for recreation due to the simple fact I may come up from  a dive and up pop up "BOB" straight out of the water looking at me with a puffy bloated look to him?
I tend to avoid the water's until the body has been found and retrieved?
Salt water has buoyancy maybe they are surfaced somewhere or washed up on the surf waiting to be found?
