With the budget of P100 million for city road rehabilitation using limestone to be spread over most city roads, the city might be submerged and perhaps only the bellfry of the St. Joseph Cathedral might be left in view.
This was the point stressed by City kagawad Djingo Rama who estimated that the second tranche of P50 million can buy the city government 138,889 cubic meters of limestone.
"This is indeed a lot. It can only be delivered with 9,920 truckloads," Rama cited basing his computation at P360 per cubic meter.
This computation is based on the suppliers' quotaion given to buyers of limestone at P300 plus 20% up for other incidental expenses.
With 138,889 cubic meters of limestone, it should cover a stretch of 578 kilometers of road (based on a 6-meter wide road), Rama cited.
"Can you imagine how huge this budget of P50 million for road rehab will be?" the lawmaker asked, taking the cue on the claim of Mayor Dan Lim that the road rehab project will only be good for the foundation in preparation for the concreting which will be implemented perhaps next year.
Rama laughed off the Mayor's claim in his radio program, that the spread limestone can last for two or three years.
"He is fond of fooling the public," Rama cited while saying that could be the reason why the mayor started a new radio program titled "Sa Motuo Lang."
Kag Rama challenged the mayor and the majority bloc to show to the public the clear-cut accomplishment report and program of work so that the minority group will then support the approval of the supplemental budget for the P50 million loan.
