ONOD. LEFT CARTOGRAPHIC SKETCH is that of the gunman: 30-40 years old, 5'6" tall, dark complexion,
brush up hairstyle, chinky eyes, high cheekbone while the sketch on the right is that of the driver
of the getaway motorcycle, 25-30 years old, 5'4", slim, fair complexion.
A former teacher who was sued for sexual harassment by the victim is the subject of a manhunt behind the
brutal killing of an innocent 15-year old female student of Tagbilaran Grace Christian School, this city.
This, aside from the hired gunman and the driver of the getaway motorcycle whose cartographic sketches
were released yesterday by PNP Provl Director Constantino Barot Jr.
Reports reaching the Chronicle said the suspected mastermind is a mentor in one of the universities who was
charged with sexual harassment not just by the victim but by other victims as well.
However, it was the victim's case that was reopened few days before her murder.
The victim, Mezie Rose B. Onod, a third year high school fell on the ground after the gunman shot her
at a close range in broad daylight near the Tagbilaran City Airport last Tuesday.
Based on initial investigation, an unidentified man approached the victim from behind and asked if
she was Mezie Rose and instantly pulled the trigger right after the victim confirmed that she was.
The bullet went through her body and she was already dead when rushed to the hospital.
Bystanders at the crime scene vividly described the unidentified gunman and his accomplice
waiting nearby on the getaway motorcycle. (See cartographic sketches)
The victim's boyfriend (not a student of TGCS), who had just left after talking with her before the incident,
said he saw the victim's former teacher at the vicinity of the crime scene.
The boyfriend never expected it would be the last moment he would see her alive, because it was so sudden
and so unexpected to happen in a place with many people around.
The teacher he referred to was the same person whom the victim had earlier complained of having molested her,
which was reportedly the reason for her transfer to Grace Christian School this school year.
Based on this report, authorities checked on the teacher whom the victim had earlier complained of having molested her.
But they found out that he no longer lives in Cortes town.
An informant revealed that the teacher transferred teaching to the Bohol Island State University.
Reports said it was the first time that the bystanders saw the gunman, but the driver of the getaway vehicle was familiar to them.
Witnesses described the getaway motorcycle as "kalansay" in vernacular or skeleton, which means that it
was already stripped of some accessories and it looked like it was just a re-assembled unit.
Meanwhile, Robert Rio, principal of Grace Christian School during a visit to dyRD clarified the victim
was together with her classmate, not her boyfriend as earlier reported.
He likewise recalled that the school, during the start of the school year received threats from unknown caller not to accept Onod.
Rio led school authorities in demanding justice for the death of their student.
In a paid ad appearing in this issue, Tagbilaran Grace Christian School (TGCS) "condemn in strongest terms
the brutal and wanton killing of our 15 year old 3rd year student - Mezie Rose B. Onod."
The press statement kicked off the school's cry for "Justice for Mezie."
Rio who is also an active Christian preacher expressed alarm on the escalating criminality happening in the city.
"This is not the Tagbilaran I used to know," the school principal commented during the radio interview few days after the incident.
PO2 Silvan Palacio of the city PNP investigation section told the Chronicle yesterday they already invited
several personalities suspected to be linked in one way or the other to the crime.
Palacio confirmed that the incident happened barely three days after the case filed by the victim against
her former teacher of the Holy Infant King Academy in Cortes was reopened.
City police operatives will invite other eyewitnesses to shed light on the latest murder case in the city, Palacio assured.
