Amonsot: Horn's right hand can hurt Pacquiao
« on: June 07, 2017, 08:33:52 AM »
Filipino Czar Amonsot, who on Monday sparred with Jeff Horn, singled out the Australian’s right hand as his best punch.

Horn, according to Amonsot, throws his signature punch with enough speed and power that it would be his main weapon against Manny Pacquiao when they collide in Brisbane on July 2.

“Jeff is explosive,” the 31-year-old Amonsot said in a report by Grantlee Kieza of The Courier-Mail after a 10-round sparring session with Horn.

Horn’s camp has enlisted the former ALA fighter as one of his sparmates because of the latter’s toughness—the now Australia-based Amonsot (34-3-3, with 22 KOs) is on a 12-fight winning streak—and familiarity with Pacquiao.

A video posted by Kieza yesterday on Twitter showed Horn using his range and footwork to work on the southpaw Amonsot, who kept on charging at the Australian trying to land a looping left hand. But in the process, Amonsot had been on the receiving end of some blows from Horn.

Amonsot got a taste of Horn’s right straight, which is also the punch Pacquiao is most susceptible to.

“His [Horn’s] right-hand lead is fast and powerful. That’s a punch that could give Pacquiao a lot of trouble,” said the Tagbiliran City, Bohol-born fighter.

Horn will most likely rely heavily on that punch when he tries to take Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight championship at the Suncorp Stadium next month.
