Boxing sensation and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao is gaining headway with his ongoing conditioning and training here for the scheduled fourth face off in December with Mexican nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez.

Restituto “Buboy” Fernandez, who is currently handling Pacquiao’s training, said the ring icon is now getting back to boxing form and expects further progress as the training sessions continue.

He said their workouts are mainly focused on making Pacquiao become more familiar with the moves and boxing style of the gritty Marquez.

“I’ve been simulating the moves of Marquez and I let him take special attention on the way the latter release his punches and defensive strategies,” Fernandez said.

He said they were also studying their offensive moves and the appropriate punches to deliver in specific scenario.

Fernandez said Pacquiao’s training sessions have been so far going on smoothly and without much distraction, especially from eager fans and visiting friends.

Pacquiao has been making his daily conditioning routine at the city sports complex here and the training sessions at the People’s Champ Gym in Barangay Tambler here.

The training consists of 18 sessions covering a range of activities - from speed ball exercise to boxing tactics.

Also training at the People’s Champ Gym are boxers Ernie Sanchez, Dodie Boy Penalosa Jr. and Michael Parenas who are seeing action as undercards in the December 8 Pacquiao-Marquez fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
