In the latest chapter of the storied Mexico-Philippines rivalry, former two-division world champion Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18 KOs) scored a spectacular second round knockout to take the WBC/WBO bantamweight titles of reigning champion Fernando Montiel (44-3-2, 34 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. It was a left hook that put Montiel on the deck. Time was 2:25.
