WITH still no answer from Floyd Mayweather Jr., chances of a mega fight this Nov. 13 with
Manny Pacquiao are slim according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.
Arum has given Mayweather Jr. until Saturday (RP time) to accept Pacquiao’s challenge.
“We have heard nothing from (Floyd),†Arum told USA Today. “But hey, it’s not the end of the world. If it doesn’t happen this year, hopefully it will happen next year.â€
If Mayweather Jr. rejects the offer to fight Manny, Arum feels they can make the super fight next year, in May.
Arum also said Pacquiao could face Antonio Margarito this November, in Mexico.
“They’ll go absolutely nuts for this,†said Arum. “They have a new arena in Monterrey.
The governor wants it, the city wants it, and Manny is not reluctant to fight a Mexican in Mexico.â€
Pacquiao will be gunning for his eighth division world title against Margarito because Arum is planning to place the vacant World Boxing Council light middleweight crown on the line.
