Bohol's featherweight champion Rey “Boom Boom†Bautista defeated his Mexican challenger Miguel Angel Mendoza in the main event of Pinoy Pride X in Cebu late last night.
Bautista halted the Mexican knockout artist in the 6th round of their bout that took place at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-lapu City. Bautista retained his IBF international featherweight title in the process. He improved his record to 32 victories against 2 losses while handing the Mexican's first loss in 18 fights.
Bautista said in an interview last Thursday that the Mexican will not reach the 6th round.
In the undercard, Filipino boxer Rocky Fuentes scored a 2nd-round technical knockout victory over fighting former WBC International Silver Light Flyweight Champion Lookdiaw Tor Buamas of Thailand
Genesis “Azukal†Servania also won over Mexico's super bantamweight prospect Marcos “Geraldito†Cardenas.
