Power from Leyte available February

More installation works will be needed before the electric power from Leyte could be fully utilized in the Bohol Grid, possibly in February this year.
This was the explanation of the National Power Power Corporation to queries regarding the utilization of the Leyte-Bohol Interconnection Project power generation to solve the recurring brownouts in the province.
Bohol’s 2nd district Rep. Erico B. Aumentado wrote the firm in late December demanding NPC to tap the LBIP power generation to solve the power crisis in the province.
Aumentado said the recurring brownouts “has thrown back Bohol to the dark ages and stunted its economic growth.â€
NPC president chief executive officer Federico Puno, however, clarified that while the firm has already completed the interconnection facilities between Leyte and Bohol and all the submarine power cables and equipment have been laid down, the NPC would still have to do installation works within the island before electric power from Leyte could be fully utilized.
