Lightning kills hospital assistant administrator

CALAPE, Bohol - A young administrator of a privately-owned hospital was killed by a lightning bolt off Calape Bay early Thursday afternoon.
Pronounced dead on arrival at their own hospital was Ferdinand Nazareno Relampagos, asst. administrator of the Nazareno Community Hospital here.
The 34-year old hospital asst. Administrator was with two other companions when a lightning struck their pump boat while on their way to Mantatao islet.
Ferdinand was to buy fresh seafoods at the island which he wanted to prepare for his elder brother’s birthday the following day.
Police said the pumpboat capsized. Relampagos who was sitting, beside the pumpboat’s engine was thrown far from the pumpboat due to the impact when the engine exploded after stricken by the bolt.
The two companions of Nazareno survived the ordeal when they were rescued by the responding fishermen in the area.
Interment will be on Saturday at the Calape Catholic Cemetery after a requiem mass in Calape Parish Church at 2 p.m.
