Central Visayas electric coops to help rehabilitate typhoon-ravaged areas

TYPHOON “Milenyo” wrought havoc to the country and the loss of life and property was quite high. Add to it the present economic crunch which is in itself like the storm, pinning down and blowing the Filipinos away.

Despite life’s harness the Pinoys still manage to make it through specially if the Bayanihan spirit spreads to neighbors and causes them to perform acts of generosity.

A fine example to this was felt during the 8th National Cooperative Summit held at Puerto Princesa, Palawan last week.

In a phone patch with PGMA and BPRMO Chief Antonieto “Boy” Pernia at the opening program, he mentioned that as a gesture of cooperation the entire Central Visayas Electric cooperatives created a team to go visit and assess the extent of damage to the power facilities and assist in the rehabilitation of the ravaged areas to facilitate resumption of operations and distribution of power.

Through this undertaking, it was hoped that these devastated areas will recuperate faster and be able to stand again and return with their normal daily grind.

Just as what happened in the Province of Cebu during the early 90’s when also a devastating typhoon named “RUPING” wrought havoc on the province, destroying homes, uprooting not only trees but also the power lines, But when the “bayanihan spirit” rose into each and every neighboring provinces, the inflow of assistance (in kind as well as technical services and expertise) Cebu Province miraculously came back to life faster than expected with all power lines restored and lights were on in every single residence in record time of just three months.

The 8th National Cooperative Summit was held from October 4-6.

The province of Bohol was represented by the delegation of the Bohol Cooperative Development Council (PCDC) headed by Pernia who is also currently the Vice Chair of PCDC council.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
