Aumentado beats Relampagos in Sevilla polls

Rep. Erico B. Aumentado bested incumbent governor Rene Relampagos by a ratio of 2 to 1 in the Panaghiusang Sevillahanon Municipal Convention last February 5, 2001.
Aumentado pulled 1,495 votes, while Relampagos garnered 778 votes.
The convention that selected the candidates for provincial, congressional and municipal positions, the Panaghiusang Sevillahanons is the first political aggrupation which holds a primary type process. Sevilla voters will support the candidates who won the convention using the unique modality in selecting the candidates in the May 14 elections.
Aumentado’s name was entered in absentia and on the last hour. He was in Manila attending the session of Congress when the convention was held, participated in by the voters of the 13 barangays of Sevilla town.
Declared winners were Ceferino Digal for Mayor and Joseph Marciano Bucag for vice mayor (both unopposed); Julius Ceasar F. Herrera for vice governor (unopposed); Emmanuel C. Caberte (2,024 points), Ester Corazon J. Galbreath (1,160 pts.), Godofreda Tirol (1,018 pts), and Exequiel Madrinan (990 pts) for provincial board members.
For Sangguniang members, the winners were Emmanuel Fernandez (1,898), Gregorio G. Torregosa (1,829), Joseph Mariano S. Eusena (1,661), Elisear D. Digal, (1,648), Pedro Tajale Jr. (1,634), Joseph Severino C. Caberte (1,534), Miguel D. Barrete, (1,507), and Anastacia Lagrosa (1,482).
For congressman of the 3rd district, businessman Angelo Balili, won over incumbent Congressman Eladio Jala and ex-Rep. Isidro Zarraga.
The Panaghiusang Sevillahanon was founded by the political leaders of Sevilla as a means of uniting all political factions to accelerate the development of the town.
