3 charged for illegal fishing on Bohol seasA Bacolod-based commercial fishing boat using the method known as por seine
was apprehended by a composite team of Coastal Law Enforcement Council (CLEC 1) fish wardens, members of the PNP-7 Regional Mobile Group, the Maritime Command, Coast Guard and the local police.
Three of its crew were charged with violation of Sec. 90, RA 8550 (National Fishery Code) filed at he Provincial Prosecution Office.
The boat officers were identified as Captain Eduardo Tuburan, Willie De Asis, all of Bacolod City and Master Fisherman Jubert Conde of Masbate.
The presence of the vessel was reported by Calape Mayor Ernest Herrera who is also the incumbent chairman of CLEC 1.
The boat F/V CARMELINA 16 was spotted off Bagong Banwa Island, Tubigon, and found fishing within the prohibited 15-kilometer radius municipal waters.
The 120 –gross ton fishing boat had a load of 5 containers (banyera) when apprehended by authorities.
The three boat officials are now detained at the PNP lock-up jail in Tubigon town.
