Why do the top two leading tv networks of the Philippines compete on airing Anime cartoons, teleseryes, and celebrity talk shows in mornings. afternoons and nightime?

None of these programs are educational. It's no wonder that today's kids are more hooked to computers, psps , etc. What they see in tv is what they copy and idolize.
 
I remember the days of my childhood when I was always eager to watch Batibot, Chikiting Patrol,  Mathinik, Sineskwela not only that they’re knowledge-oriented but I wasn't aware that these shows were supposed to be boring. The alphabet,  number and multiplication table songs were so catchy and I always end up with the "last song syndrome". I admit, I did study my multiplication by singing Sineskwela's song, and even now, I still catch myself humming to some of the show's theme songs.

Yes. There are a lot of networks  solely dedicated to knowledge-sharing. But. They need to consider that majority of the Filipinos do not have cables. All they have are these two major channels to entertain them.
 
Okay, Maybe I am just sick of the teleseryes and maybe I need to wake up with my own generation -Y. But hey.  If we really think about it.  It's not how we blend with our future. It's how we are ready for it that counts!

Because giant media networks are puppets of the taste of the masses.

Blogs will change the world somehow. Many journalists are running their own websites. They post their own stories online independent of the dictates of giant media outlets.

The Internet will obliterate these non-sense TV shows as anyone can now become an independent filmmaker.

Raise the Internet standard in the Philippines!

I agree with Kiams.

The tv shows here in the 'states are filled with gross and indecent commercial programs. I for one am disturbed at how they show "Girls gone wild" commercials in children's television networks such as Nickeleodeon.

Too much 'reality-shows' and not enough educational shows.

Too much focus on material wealth, and not on the process of achieving wealth.

Too much commercials on 'make-money-fast' gigs and not enough lessons on proper studies.

Too much shows on sex and sexuality and not enough 'family-oriented' shows or programs.

Everytime  I want to hang out with my brothers, they are all watching anime shows.

One time galing, I forced them two to come with me.

We went to go car washing; to wash my car. A more effective bonding experience than say, watching 'Naruto'.

Sometimes one must be vocal to exact change.

Kani jud mga bata now-a-days, they're too dependent on electronics and gadgets-gadgets.

Ako, when I was 4-5 years old, I would play with my sister and cousins when we lived in Valencia; we would play in the kamalig, in the beach, get dirty, run around etc.

American kids are just spoiled. Sometimes one has to force change jud. lol

You know i was so shocked the last time I went over my friend Lee's house. Because when I went, Lee's parents were working and Lee's little brothers (12, 14 years old) were watching adult movies.

And when I saw this, because we were hanging downstairs, I pointed this out. Lee, to my astonishment, didn't do anything and just laughed.

I didn't say anything because they weren't my little brothers nor family. I, however, voiced my objection to Lee, but he just brushed it aside.

If I caught either of my brothers doing such things, and if my parents were at work. I would have already unleashed my own belt. No brother of mine will do that under my supervision; especially not if they are only between 12 and 14 y/o.

Tinuud jud ka, 'te, that kids nowadays are not only becoming socially lazy, but are also having low morals. They are exposed to sex and sexuality, profane languages, etc at such an early age. And are bombarded with these images on a daily basis.

kaabot pako anang mathinik, jez. kato pong hiraya manawari ug naay usa about science. i really wish those shows will be aired back or maski replay naman lang. they were very informative sa mga bata jud.
