Why Tubag Bohol? Part 1
« on: May 02, 2007, 05:24:18 PM »
Random Thoughts: First of A Series

For more than three years I was working as senior writer and assistant editor for the Bohol Chronicle. Being a journalist, I had to talk to people and get information from them - for you cannot know all the events that are taking place in your province. You need to rely on connections, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers.

My experience tells me that most people are always afraid to speak out (perhaps that was the way we were raised by the bastard Spanish centuries ago). People fear that any information coming from them would be used in the future against them.

I was often frustrated. There were stories that I needed to write for these stories were of paramount public interest, but no single soul would stand as source. In journalism you cannot use "I said," or "according to this writer"  in your news.

Looking back, I want to reiterate this call: Tubag Bohol. The world is listening. "We Listen"

Mike,

Could it be that Bol-anons or for that matter most Filipino tribes have built-in codes in their DNA that defines this idiosyncracy as in "ija-ija aho-aho" norm in their social character?

Capitan,

Not really an ija-ija-aho-aho. My best guess is that we are still carrying the DNA of the cruelties of the bastard Spaniards who for so long deprived us of exercising our true humanity.

ija-ija-aho-aho is not about the character of the person but it defines on how boholanos speaks, sakto ba ko? Because dili man na kinaiya sa mga bol-anon... Sa sinultian man nga naay ija instead of iya, then aho instead of ako

What's Wrong with being Boholano?

Usahay makaingon lang pud ko sauna: "What's wrong with being Boholano?"

There's nothing wrong with being a boholano, we should be proud of it. As of this time, my parents doesn't live in bohol because their work is cebu, but everytime that they have a holiday or our barrio fiesta in bohol. They always went home to bohol, its because bohol is a nice place to live.

Thats why when I'm going home. Bohol is my target of travelling. Our house in Getafe is not good, so I won't spend a night there but I'm going there for a day with my hubby and his family. I'm planning to stay in Tagbilaran, thats why I'm on hunting of a cheaper hotel, na makaya sa amo budget  ;D
