Why Is Gasoline Still Expensive in the Philippines?
« on: October 19, 2008, 05:15:42 AM »
According to BBC News, "oil is already down to $70 a barrel - from $140 in August 2008," yet the price of oil in Philippine gasoline stations remains horribly high. Once the oil companies in the Philippines slashed down the price by P1 peso only.

How much is fuel per liter in the Philippines today? Let's compare the prices with those of other countries.

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

That is still very high, Bem. Here in Thailand, oil price has returned to its normal level.

The global financial crisis and the troubled financial sector in the US brought blessings to poor countries in the world.

Oil producers would never have cut down the price if the world did not experience credit crunch. Oil price has nothing to do with supply and demand. It has something to do with greed and monopoly.

Adto pang 1980's ug hangtod karon mao lang gihapon wala may nausab.Kon tinuod man kana kinsa man kaha pod ang nabulahan? unsa may reaction diha sa atong mga kaigsuonan diha sa Palawan mismo.

the main reason why gas prices in the philippines remain high despite the continuing drop of oil prices in the world market is that the oil companies are employing delaying tactics in bringing down the cost of oil alongside the drop of world maket prices to maximize the profit margin that they can possibly get. it's really a whole bunch of cow manure for them to declare to the comsuming public that they are losing in their operations. have you ever seen a year-end report of an oil company? they almost always boast of the sales that they generate for that particular year and how it is bringing the company to higher levels with tons of profit being posted every passing year... regarding the oil in palawan, if it is indeed a sizable deposit, will only benefit the government and the people who run it. this is because the government intends to sell palawan oil in the philippines at world market prices. so in effect, its availability will not bring down the price of local oil and people will not feel any kind of benefit that local oil will bring. in plain and simple terms, the oil that they discovered in palawan will be USELESS to the ordinary juan dela cruz.

It takes months pa usa maubos ang gasoline bisan baba na kaayo ang presyo kay syempre ila pa man na i hurot ug baligya ang gas nga napalit nila ug mahal so dapat lang mahal sad ila baligya or else dakong alkanse. What a relief nga among gasoline diri $2.80 na much better sa $3.98 a gallon.

raquel: kanang ilang ihurot una ang ila stock nga napalit ug taas nga presyo before they can bring downs their prices is only applied by them when prices are on thew way down. per when prices are on the way up, ilang ibaligya at high market prices and stock nga ilang napalit adtong barato pa ang ilang pagpalit... in the end, the oil companies are the winners and the consuming public the losers. nonetheless, everyone is feeling slight relief that prices are beginning to go down.
