Bay Beds,

You need to memorize at least 1400 characters to be able to read a newspaper. Sa translation hinuon, the computer takes care of converting the character. Naa pud mga on-line dictionaries to check for proper word use and idioms, which are the trickiest part in translation.

Kudos sir Ben.

Sa una English-Japanese, Japanese-English ra man akong himuon. Karon there is a growing demand for Japanese-Bisaya, Bisaya-Japanese translation.

Very intriguing skill nang imong kalaki Brad Bene... murag muangay ko ana.

That's why you're named Bene... Italian for "goodaaaah!!!"

Pads,

Greek diay Pads? Di ba kasagaran sa original NT text Greek, naa pud hinuon mo-claim nga Aramaic?

Learning other languages made me realize the beauty of our own native tongue--Visayan. First major  Visayan-to-Japanese translation job nako, a documentary filmed by a Japanese production company in a fishing village in Bohol, nagkamangkamang ko pagsabot sa Binisaya, kapin pa nga kusog kaayo ang vernacular accent didtong lugara.

Jesuit man gyud nagtudlo ug naghulma nako sukad high school. Pero naminyoan nako Protestant. I believe we have more commonalities than differences, and the common ground is also the higher ground. Ako'y official interpreter sa among Sunday service, ug music team leader pud ko.

Very intriguing skill nang imong kalaki Brad Bene... murag muangay ko ana. In many cases, yes. In the present case, tupad ko pirmi sa akong kliyente.

Niingon man ang judge nga, "Since she has no legal representation, can you stand as her lawyer?" First time ko na-promote pagka-abogado. Pero nalipay ko kay ang Pilipina, ma-deport na unta without getting a single cent. After persistent negotiations before the judge--in which I requested for a temporary recess about five times--both sides finally agreed on a court settlement of about US $20,000. Wala ra ba gyud untay makuha ang Pilipina kay nakasal sila sa Pilipinas pero wa man ma-consummate ang ilang spousal relationship because of health problems of the husband. Wala gyud sila nag-ipon bisag usa ka adlaw. Worse, the Filipina ignored all court notices for a year until the final notice which would have effectively deported her without getting a single cent.

Okay sir Ben.  Ayos.

Today was a good and productive day, we discussed thalassemia (alpha and beta types), modes of treatment, prevention and prognosis. Later today we inspected patients for Cranial Nerve Palsies (I-XII). Oriented today.

Had a cup of choco latte, and now back to work. work as usual.

A patient came up to me on the hospital floor, touched my white coat, (note that this patient was in her late 80s), "God Bless you Doctor. God Bless You."

I assisted her back to her room, as it was evident that the patient was a dementia patient.
As I walked her back, secured her, and walked back to the center desk, I could not help but smile.
Na inspired pood ko.

Christ is truly in the weak, dying, and distressed.

I love this calling. Medicine.

Looked at bed ulcers/pressure ulcers all day. Interesting.

Lesson for the day:
As physician-students, we must be observant on patient situation and order the nurses to dry patients, order PT/OT assessment on patient. And not be afraid to give orders. Be firm. Be direct.

Our clinical director's message to us: "You are a physician-surgeon in training. Yours is the responsibility of the patient. Yours is the responsibility of patient health and outcome. With that responsibility comes with power and authority. Yours is the power to order the nurse, physical therapist, radiology techs, administrators etc. Be not afraid to make orders. Grow thick skin."

I smiled.

Last night I went to a club with friends. The Boka Lounge.
Hosted by 2nd year medical students to raise money for our student-run white coat ceremony. lol.

Interesting night. Too much emotions. lol.

Today was a pseudo-productive day. Despite it being a Saturday, I thought i would get more work done, rather, it was spent on errands and on helping other students. There is a flu going around campus and 5 of my good friends, namely: Job, Albert, Shalabh, Stacy and Thiru are all sick with the flu. Symptoms include productive cough, fever, malaise, nausea and overall lethargy and fatigability. Just listening to their cough there is crackles. I have given them tylenol extra strength to remedy the symptomatic pain. Liquids were given as well. I hope they get better tomorrow.

In my own concern, I took 1000 mg of Ascorbic Acid (Vit C). I fear that the campus will be affected by monday and I hope my immune system stays bolstered to fight off this circulating bug.

The irony of the situation. Medical Students getting Sick. :)

Then again, we are, afterall, but mere humans. Even Doctors get sick.

Work. Well, at least trying to get some work done.
