Activity is the best medicine, second to laughter. Slothful nature and excessive sleep is a symptom of clinical depression. Which is highly affiliated with congenital diseases, and the advent of suicidal tendencies.
Most of the psych patients I have treated were depressed, and complained of excessive sleepiness, lack of activity. This is in part due to a disrupted circadian rythym, which has affected their REM sleep, then there is also subsequent imbalance in serotonin, and dopamine levels.
Activity as well as behavioral modification and synergistic psychopharmacology is the best course of treatment.
