Mardi Gras In Bohol
« on: July 03, 2008, 10:02:12 PM »
Naka dungog ko nga naay sinulog style nga paga himuon sa Tagbilaran sa ilang Fiesta ba na? And i know nga daghan naman jud mobasa aning atong Forum, i hope the people who are creating these festival would gradually  change it to MARDI GRAS (pronounced as Maardee Graa) Bohol Style and make it as colorful as they can like what we did in New Orleans.

Dili nalang nato kopyahon ang Sinulog sa Cebu kay ilaha man jud na sukad pa sa una, and sense atong mga katawhan ganahan man jud ug Street Dancing why not make it like a Mardi Gras style, di ba? Bohol Peeps?

Let's make our own the first. Lets create MARDI GRAS BOHOL STYLE every Tagbilaran Town Fiesta!

Ms Da Binz,

Bohol's Sandugo street dancing is not the same as Cebu's Sinulog. Sandugo street dancing commemorates the historic blood compact between Sikatuna and Legaspi. So, the theme and motiff revolves around this event. Our's is historical, Sinulog is religious.

Cheers! ;D

I'm sorry Belle, murag wala siguro nimo masabti ang bahin sa Bohol's Sandugo. It represents a huge history of the founders of Bohol. Duna gyud syay meaning. And the street dancing dunay reenactment ana, about nila Datu Sikatuna ug Legazpi sa ilang drinking of their blood (blood compact) as their sign and promise of Friendship.

the last "mardi gras" in bohol, if qualified, was in july 2000. every nook and corner in CPG avenue were bands to entertain people while the dancers would pass by along CPG until CPG avenue near BQ. after that event, it never happened before.

there were several attempts after that but were dull and lifeless. they even invited dancers from maskara, sinulog, etc (gathering of festival champs) but they presented a dance only in the grand stand.

Ow, that i didnt know, abi man gud nako nga mura na sad ug sinulog nga mag dala dala ug statue. It sounded the same man gud. Now i know. But i think they have the same theme, and costumes di bah? But ang naka lahi man gud sa Mardi Gras is not only a presentation of dancers  hasta ang mga manan aw mo apil ug sajaw!  (That was what i have attended naapil mi ug sajaw ;D).

Toni wala ko sa New Orleans dear, ning adto ra mi didto one time sa Mardi Gras. And yes many people from around the world gather there just to have fun.

Wala may moapil ug sayaw Belle kay kini silang nag street dancing it's part of the contest man. Bale dunay nag judge nila ana hangtod moabot didto sa GPC Complex para adto mag finali ug mag announce kung kinsa ang nakadaog.
So ang mga naa sa kilid nga manan-away pure rajud ilang tumong "to watch and enjoy" and not to distract the mga dancers kay contest lagi.
