Starting midnight, my father, Reynaldo Ligalig, 54, is no longer responding to our voices. He was infused with one more bag of blood and more IVs of different types to revive him.
At 4 am, he was no longer moving. They say that the last human sense that will disappear is the sense of hearing.
So I opened the Bible and started reading the book of Psalms. I've been reading the Bible by his bedside since we were confined at Velez Hospital, Cebu, 16 days ago. I continued reading on the chapter where I and my father had left off.
Before I could finish three chapters I saw my father breathed his last as I held his hand.
He returned to our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ, peacefully, while I was standing near him reading the words of God.
We are still in Cebu right now. The hospital won't release the dead body of my father until we are able to pay all the hospital bills.
Exhausted, stressed out, sleepless, tired, hungry, yet firm in my faith in the Lord, I just sat down in the hospital and covered my face with both my hands, broke in tears and started to pray to God.
