Gotta Love Military Vehicles
« on: May 27, 2008, 03:31:10 AM »
Some pictures of Soviet armour. Taken in my study-abroad semester in The Ukraine in May 2006.
During my stay in the former Soviet Socialist Republic, I took it on myself to tour the former Soviet monuments as well as military centers.

Military history and history in general is a personal hobby, the off time I had in the country allowed me to completely engross myself in local history, discourse and nationalism.

The best part in my experience in Eastern Europe would have to be the people and their vibrant history. Truly there is a difference between reading history in books and discussions in class from actually being there, living and breathing as well as seeing history before your eyes.

Soviet Mi-24 Attack Helicopter. Shown here in color; this particular chopper was used in the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan.

Ground Pounder; used in the late 40s and 50s. Typical Soviet infantry-support vehicle. This was used and exported to North Korea and China and was used against UN and American forces in the Korean War.

Stalinov style Artillery. Used in the Great Liberational War (War against Nazi Germany)

Myself posing with a Soviet Infantry Support Armoured Vehicle. This is a Soviet 70s-80s era vehicle. Typically used in the Afghani-Soviet War.

Fellow American college students who were studying abroad in Ukraine with me. All of us were based in the Kiev-Mohyla Academy of Law. Spring Semester of 2006.
