Copied from Facebook: After the storm all rats disappeared from our house except one brownish rat who behave quite differently from other big rats I've seen in the past. Aside from its unusually distinct brown color, its size is twice bigger than the biggest rat I have captured in my mouse trap. Yesterday, this rat touched my heart. I was at the terrace when suddenly that lone huge rat crossed the terrace towards the door. Its pace was slower compared to other rats. When its body almost contacted my feet I drove the rat away but it stopped running and surprisingly turned its head to me. Not content, the rat turned its whole body and looked at my face. We have an eye to eye contact for over thirty seconds and I began to recognize that it was not a rat. It was the genia pig I gave to my son many years ago as a gift when he was still 9 or ten years old. We set the genia pig free when somebody convinced our mother that genia bites were extremely dangerous. Though it gained extra weight over the past 10 or15 years, yet I can still recall the structure of its face, its stares though not anymore benign having adopted the behaviour of some rats and other nocturnal creatures yet I can still identify that it was the genia pig my son and I tended for over six months . We even gave it a name I cannot anymore remember. It was our genia pig and it is alive. I felt guilty of setting it free and leaving it all alone to its own devises. I was about to hold it when suddenly my dog bark and shocked the genia pig and it disappeared. After that, memories glided in the screen of my mind , that very moment it ran towards the bushes when my son set it free. My thoughts receded in the early years when my son was still young and me with few crowns of gray hairs on my head then. Myriad memories galloped into my mind and the cascading thoughts had crushed both laughter and pain in a brief moment. It is not good to be sentimental these days so I rose up and said to myself " It was not the genia pig. It was just a rat.
