Imagine if today's events were a repeat of yesterday's. And you could tell what would come tomorrow today.
The dreariest place to live in is a box. But alas, life is full of surprises--big and small.
Did you come upon an unusual incident, a strange encounter, a funny coincidence, a butterfly sharing a petal with a bee, a letter from a childhood friend, etc. today? Well, let's share our surprises big and small.
* * *
Let me start. Today, a kind Filipina inaanak dropped by my office bringing platefuls of really yummy food--caldereta, adobo, and dinuguan. She said she called me up to invite me to her birthday party the night before, but l was in Tokyo. So she brought the food over today, and boy, was good it for a party. As I was not much into meat, and don't really eat that much, especially now that I'm by my lonesome most of the time, I didn't know what to do with the bounty on my table.
Thirty minutes later, an elderly Filipina drove by with her Japanese husband. I haven't seen this couple for years. Last time I saw them was when they just got back from the husband's stint in Europe to retire for good in Japan. They asked where they could find a Filipino restaurant as the wife was desperately craving for Filipino food. Unfortunately, the last Filipino restaurant in the city had folded up recently. Immediately, I said, "Would you mind if I give you some really delicious Filipino food?" They were hesitant at first, almost embarrassed, but finally accepted my offer. As they left with the packed food, I whispered to the wife, who was a Visayan, "Nasimhutan siguro nimo tong nagdala sa akong sud-an Manang no?" We had a good laugh...
