Okay, so today was an interesting day. You know I was enjoying my morning because I didn't have any classes today besides teaching molecular lab today. My day went as the usual, woke up at 10 AM, got dressed and taught lab at 11:30 AM.

We were suppose to run RT-PCR gel samples to get the peroxidase sequence samples for the specific Arabidopsis thaliana tissues (root, stem, leaf). I had all the equipment ready, prepared all samples, readied all the micro-pipettes for the students; but before I could begin lecture the lab technician told us that the RT-PCR gel electrophoresis analyzer was offline due to 'technical difficulties' attained when a chemistry student forgot to turn off the machine from the previous night.

I was outraged, I mean, seriously, these machines are ridiculously expensive. The RT-PCR gel electrophoresis analyzer is worth over $100,000; and attached to this machine is a electrospectrophotometer machine which is worth over $80,000. These machines are interlinked and if one machine is offline, that means the other is offline. I was just utterly annoyed how any professor would have allowed such an inept and moronical student have oversight in our molecular genetics laboratory and have access to almost a quarter of a million dollars machinery inside.

I found out as well that this so called 'chemistry student' was a sophomore who wasn't doing any research, but was an aide to a senior chemistry student working on her chemistry senior thesis. First of all, this meant that the sophomore had no specific access to the molecular genetics laboratory, but used the key from the senior student to access.

My point, as I made clear to these students after I found out the machines were offline, was that:

1) No one is to have access of our molecular genetics lab unless you are a biology major
2) The senior student's gross ineptitude in allowing an inexperienced and untrained sophomore into an upper-level biology laboratory was utterly against protocol. Only lab TAs are allowed inside or lab techs or professors. NOT, i repeat, NOT sophomore students who have no experience in molecular genetics!!!

Because of their insensitivity to the biology department and lack of respect and lack of understanding at that, my molecular biology lab was canceled.

I reported the senior student to the biology chair for gross incompetence and charged the sophomore student for downright vandalism of material.

This underclassman should not have been tampering with laboratory instruments beyond his/her scope of understanding in the first place. Can you imagine? Machinery whose worth almost totals $250,000 was damaged and 'offline'.

One thing I truly cannot stand is incompetence and total ineptitude.

Did you ever notice why pigeons, crows, all kinds of birds etc love to release their dung on your car when you just finished washing it? I just washed my car last night, you know waxed it vacuumed her and what not. So this morning I came back from class and noticed bird poop marks in front of her hood. Its as if the birds targeted her to poop on. I mean, c'mon birds! Can't you poop on grass, on soil, on trees? Why on our cars? lol

Any of you guys experience the same thing? Jeez

Sus dong, I had the same experience ganina. When I walked to my car, gikan pa ko nag out sa work, klaro kaayo nag poop ang langgam sa akong awto. Makalagot oi. Makadaut raba kuno na sa pental noh?

What I do when I get home, I cover the side mirrors with plastic bags. It usually works. Daghan man gud mi bluebirds dire, and they love looking at themselves sa side mirrors, ma excited siguro sila, mangiti dayon.

As much as I love the brilliance of God's diversification of the avian species, sometimes I have urges to buy a slingshot and shoot some of the birds. The pigeons here in campus aren't even afraid of us. And their poop-ings are the worst kind kai very puti-on bitaw? And it damages the paint.

'te, does covering the side mirrors really work? I'll have to check that out. I can't help but cry when I see my baby get pooped on. I'm meticulous in keeping her clean.

Try it, dong. It seems to work when I do it. Hehehe. I don't know kung mo work ba sa pigeons, kay bluebirds ra man ning amo dire. Ang bluebirds ma attract man gud sa reflection sa samin (esp kung udtong tutok), moduol dayon na sila, unya inig kita nila sa ilang reflection, they think it's another bird, ila dayon tuhikon ang samin...and because they "hang out" sa awto, they tend to leave their poop behind...

Suwayi lang dong, no harm in trying. Hehehe.

PS. if it doesn't work, buy a BB gun...I was watching a food network show, they were cooking pigeons, murag lami raba...hehehe

Naglabad akong ulo tibuok adlaw. Pagka paet gyud. Pollen is my mortal enemy gyud. I'm scared of spring now, because it's been nothing but torture for me. In a world where a pollen count of 120 is considered high, we've been getting 2800 here regularly. It's been awful, awful, awful.

I went to the gym today, signed up for a monthly membership at a quaint place called 'Total Fitness'. Absolutely no problem in signing up, dressing for the work out, but there was a problem in the middle of work out session. I had teamed up with a guy name Jim, who was my spotter during the bench press. In the middle of my 5th set, I needed him to retrieve the bar as it slid from my grip, instead he was in the leg press machine. What kind of spotter does that? Exhausting my arms is a painful ordeal, and had to toss the bar to the left else 250lbs of weight would have come down crushing my chest.

Moral of the story: Don't abandon your partner or spotting mate when they need you the most.

Driving back home today, I was awestruck by the stupidity of some drivers. I was driving down route 322 today going on the legal speed limit of 45 mph in the zone we were in. Out of no where, a driver who was driving behind me, tried to break through the left lane, which was double lined, btw. He tried overpassing me and the driver in front of me. Totally one-sided individual with no regards to the safety of other drivers that he was jeopardizing.

Not only did this individual almost forced a crash, he stalled me and 2 other drivers. Luckily no one was harmed and no one crashed. This person even made an illegal left turn--cowardly trying to escape our wrath and honkings.

Moral of the story: Follow the rules of the road. Don't do something you will regret.

So today I was at work from 9am-1 pm and then from 5pm till 9pm. I don't mind the jokes and what not but sometimes yo, some of the girls at my work are a bit too 'aggressive'? One female worker likes to slap people. I was doing some filing and printing a manual and out of no where she comes up and slaps my buttocks. It wasn't one of those cute-cute slaps either, rather one of those really hard and aggressive ones. Jeezz Luiiizzz it hurt.

C'mon lady, stop being aggressive. Sorry but I'm not a masochist.

LoL.

Anywayzzz-
