Did I say I don't support stem cell research?

I am Pro Life.

Stem Celle research doesn't only rely on the use of abortive fetuses. Stem cells can be extracted from living individuals as well. I know, I worked it in research lab.

Stem Cells, is a 'broad' term. It is called Pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells and or primordial mesencymal cells. Either you extract stem cells from an adult or from a living fetus, they are equally vital in research.

As I said, I am an AVID supporter of the sanctity of Life.

I need not explain my beliefs on the matter. I just stated that it is just so.

Amen, brother.

As The Divine Father sent his spirit into the womb of the Virgin Mary, and thus His Only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, Who is the WORD made FLESH. Came down from Heaven to Earth.

If God-With-Us came into the world through the womb of a lowly woman, and was born into the world through the womb of a lowly woman, then we all share in His glories.

We are Man. Man is made in the Image of God, Almighty.

Ponder the mysteries of the teachings of the Gospel and you will see what I am talking about. That Life, indeed, absolutely, is precious and sanctified.

Peace be with all of you.

Desperate times don’t need desperate but effective measures
July 14th, 2008 by ginomarcelo

This is a reaction to the news article published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer titled, “Lacson: Pastoral letter vs pro-population planning stupid” (07/14/08).

I agree with Sen. Lacson when he said, “There’s not enough food on the table, many are homeless, and the poor have almost zero opportunity to have access to education,…” He added that “basic social services can otherwise enjoy with an efficient but moral population management program.” However what the Senator missed is the big question, “Why these things happen?”

Poor people are dying of hunger and poverty not because food is not available on the table but because there are no access or means for poor people to have one. The taxes collected by the government that is supposed to fund long term programs on Food, Education, Shelter and Social Services were misappropriated. Instead of giving 500-pesos electricity subsidy and other short term programs, why shouldn’t the government focus really on a more cohesive and long term program? Philippines is an agricultural country, why don’t government sustain this benefit for the advantage of sustaining food security? Efficient tax collection system rather than adding more tax measures. These taxes if appropriated honestly and wisely to education, shelter and basic social services would reduce if not eliminate hunger and poverty among others.

The Senator’s bill pending in the Senate that focus on program to abate our country’s monstrous population growth, no matter how they guise it to appear as ‘Christian method will not get the ‘yes’ of the Catholic Church simply because they don’t have a common principle on the definition of ‘abortion.’ Besides, you don’t treat a person with hypertension by ‘reducing’ his blood.

Filipino people doesn’t need mercy to be given alms and dole. What the Filipino people need is an honest to goodness government that will serve the interest of the people and not their pockets. The problem is, do we have one now?

Barking on the wrong tree
July 14th, 2008 by ginomarcelo

This is a reaction to the news article published in Philippine Daily Inquirer titled, “Anti-life pols must be refused communion” (07/14/08). Lyda Canson (Chair of Gabriela Women’s Party) is barking on the wrong tree when she issued her statement; “Instead of denying them (Catholic politicians) communion, why doesn’t the Catholic Church look for measures to effectively solve the problem?”

The role of the church is to promote moral virtues while finding solutions to economic woes is the responsibility of the State. While I agree with her (Lyda Canson) that moralizing will never be the answer to the problem of abortion but clearly, it is not the stand of the Church to do otherwise – to advocate abortion. The issue of abortion is a non-debatable and non-negotiable issue for the Church. This is why the separation of the Church and State is clearly provided for in our Constitution for there are irreconcilable issues between the two, both moral and social standpoint. How could one explain the putting of a ‘fetus’ in a basket for mass offering? Will the inclusion of this unborn fetus justifies or cleanse the guilt of who ever did this? It goes without saying to these politicians (advocating or pushing “anti-life” bills masked us “Pro-Quality Life” measures) that by going inside the church and by receiving communion that their sins will be washed away.

The sanctity of life must be preserved and life is not for ours to take but Him. If parents are incapable of raising their children, then learn to practice self-discipline and be a responsible parent for once and for all. “If the mind is willing but the flesh is weak” situation results to unwanted pregnancy, why not offer that “life” to other willing couples rather than aborting it? Though may not jive fully in terms of moral principle, but it’s a matter of choosing lesser evil among the devils.

The Church is doing what it is ought to do, shouldn’t government do what it’s mandated to?

June 19th, 2008 by ginomarcelo

Two words concerning this topic:

Responsibilidad, Credibilidad. Practice safety, control your own urges. That is what separates and differentiates man from animals, and that is our ability and perceptibility to understand right from wrong.

This is a sensitive topic even in Medical School.

We had a week-long discussion on this topic alone: The Act of Induced Abortion and the ramifications it has with the Hippocratic Oath of the Physician. And an issue in Medical Ethics.

A Physician's role, as ancient as the profession of The Doctor is, was and is always been for the safeguarding of Human Life, protection of Human Life, Healing Human Life, Born and Unborn.

The Physician's role is to hold back the Jaws of Death. To prolong the precious gift of Life. So, for a Physician to even consider euthanizing a human life or taking life is already a clear violation of his/her own sacred Hippocratic Oath. An oath that has been sung by all Physician-Surgeons since the time of Hippocrates some 2500 years ago.

For me, spiritually and religiously speaking, the act of Abortion is violation of God's Law.
Heed his own Commandment: THOU SHALL NOT KILL

And professionally and as a Medical Student, the act of induced abortion or the act of abortion, for a physician to take life is violation of so many tenents of Medicine.

Truly and Firmly Yours,
Brando Lorenzo Lucino
