I find it sad that many in the Philippine literary world do not know the vibrant Cebuano poetry scene that includes the likes of Marjorie Evasco, Cora Almerino, Erlinda Alburo, Merlie Alunan, Ester Tapia, Hope S. Yu, Januar Yap, Myke Obenieta, and Michael Ligalig. One of my favorite Cebuano poets is Adonis Durado, and this year, he is finally coming out with his first book of Cebuano poetry, Dili Tanang Matagak Mahagbong (Not All That Drops Falls), with translation by Merlie Alunan.

I was teaching Visayan language with Americans. My great  problem is the rule
in spelling. Vowel e and i can be interchanged, also o and u. Deli , dili or deli
pito, peto or petu. May I know the basic rules in spelling bisayan language.
Where can we research this topic?

       Bidlisiw

Kaanindot sud-ongon ang unang bidlisiw
Mohinay-hinay nag aginod si haring adlaw.
Hangtod moabot sa kaudtohon
Mohinay-hinay pagpaubos sa kasadpan.
Hangtod nga   moabot sa kahaponon.
Kaanindot si haring adlaw sod-ongon,
Ang iyang katapusang bidlisiw,
Nga mopanaw na sa sayong kagabihon.
