The word 'Bai' , in Cebuano, means "Brother", "Bro". However, what is rather interesting is that 'Bai' is also used in Hindi to refer to 'brother'.
Indians refer to their good / close friends as 'bai', or their own blood brothers as 'bai'.
For example, I have a good friend who calls his brother, 'Ravender-Bai', or just, 'bai'.
In my case he calls me, "Lorenz Bai"
Its reversed in the comparison to the Cebuano usage of the word.
Where the Indians apply the person's name, then the word 'bai', the Visayans apply the 'bai' first before the name of the individual.
-----
Hindi Usage:
"Namaste , Yogender-Bai!"
Cebuano Visayan Usage:
"Kamusta, Bai Yogi"
