NBI Agents Shot Bol-anon Barangay Captain

 Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) shot a president of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Bien Unido town last Wednesday in an attempt to serve a search warrant for guns.

Regalado Bunado, barangay captain of Esperanza, Bien Unido, was shot on his nape after an alleged shootout with the raiding agents and is currently recuperating at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital.

According to NBI Bohol head Atty. Jonard Malvar, two teams of the NBI raided the residences of the barangay captain and his father Roberto early dawn Wednesday.

Bunado has been linked by police to six murders in Bien Unido including the supposed murder of one Rito Boniel, a relative of town Mayor Nino Boniel.

The raiding agents of the NBI were able to recover two pistols in Regalado's residence where incidentally his parents were staying during the raid.

According to the NBI, it was Mayor Boniel who sought their assistance after persistent reports that Regalado and Roberto go around barangay Esperanza carrying weapons. - The Bohol Chronicle
