Indeed, he (Lucifer) must have been very conniving and effective in deceiving 1/3rd of the Angelic Hosts in Heaven to take his side...

12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

-Isaiah 14:12-14

‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:

   “‘You were the seal of perfection,
   full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden,
   the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
   carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
   topaz, onyx and jasper,
   lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.
Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
   on the day you were created they were prepared.
14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
   for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
   you walked among the fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways
   from the day you were created
   till wickedness was found in you.
16 Through your widespread trade
   you were filled with violence,
   and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
   and I expelled you, guardian cherub,
   from among the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became proud
   on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
   because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
   I made a spectacle of you before kings.
18 By your many sins and dishonest trade
   you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire come out from you,
   and it consumed you,
and I reduced you to ashes on the ground
   in the sight of all who were watching.
19 All the nations who knew you
   are appalled at you;
you have come to a horrible end
   and will be no more.’”

-Ezekiel 28: 12- 19

Indeed, isles, indeed, pride does come before a fall. The greatest example of these so called 'great' ones who fell is Lucifer (Satan), may God rebuke him!

My question : (to fr. roel, simplylee, statesville, mike, ben, and other bible readers, bible scholars)

Lucifer was the angel of the garden of eden, and the favorite angel of the Lord. In fact, he was beloved by the Most High. He also had the beautific vision, being able to see and approach the Lord God. Yet, still, he was consumed with hatred for his own Creator and Father.

How was this so?

Did Lucifer really think he could ascend the heavens and triumph over the Divine Triumvirate of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost?

What persuaded and what convinced 1/3rd of all the Angelic Hosts to join the War in Lucifer's Side?

Where they really that sure that they could successfully assault the Divine Thronehood of God?

According to Ezekiel 28:15 this exalted angel was sinless  for the first part of his existence,
 but at a later point he defiled himself with behavior contrary to God's character.
Ezekiel 28:17 = states, "Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty"
   In the scriptures, the word heart usually refers to the inner control center of a personal being.
   In the seat of emotions (1 Sam 2:1)
                       the mind (Proverbs 23:7) and
                       the will   (Dan 1:8  thus all decisions are made in the heart
When the Bible mentions the lifting up of the heart in an evil sense, as it does in Ezekiel 28
  it is referring to  inflating the inner control center with a disposition of pride (2Chron 26:16, 32:25,26)
Because he was  the most magnificent of God's creatures, this exalted angel willfully permitted his heart
  to be inflated with pride.
Through this means, sin began in him and he passed from a sinless state to a sinful state.
Thus pride was the cause of the radical change in this exalted angel.

Through pride  he began to  believe that he  could be like God, as evidenced by his assertion
   "I will be like the Most High" (Isa 14:14)
His pride blinded him  to the ultimate reality that there is only one God  who actually exists and
   is the ultimate sovereign of the universe and everything in it.
As a result of this radical change, God  cast this  exalted angel out of His heaven (Isa 14:12, Ezek 28:16
   the third heaven mentioned by Paul in 2 Cor 12:2-4, down to the first heaven above the earth,
   where he now functions as  "the prince of the  power of the air" (Eph 2:2)

Because Satan wanted to be like God and because God  had a universal kingdom over which
 He ruled as the sovereign  king, Satan determined that he too  had to have a universal kingdom
 over which  he could rule as the sovereign king.
Because God  had angels serving Him in His kingdom, Satan determined  that he too must have angels
  serving him in his kingdom.
He, however had a problem. Because he was only a creature and not the Creator, he lacked the ability
  to create other  angels.
The most he could hope was to persuade God's angels to join him in rebellion against God.
Rev 123:4 = one-third of the angels  followed Satan and fell away from God.
 Because they personally made this choice to rebel, they thereby lost their sinless state and became
   permanently locked into a fallen, evil state.

Ma'am,

From reading Ezekiel as well as Isaiah, it is evident to us, bible readers, that Lucifer did have communion with Divine Providence. It is evident that Divine Providence also decorated Lucifer with all kinds of ornamentations. Ezekiel 28 reiterates,

"every precious stone adorned you:
   carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
   topaz, onyx and jasper,
   lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl.
Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
   on the day you were created they were prepared."

In addition to not only being decorated with the finest of all ornaments by Almighty Providence Himself, but it is apparent that Lucifer also communicated and had witnessed the Beautific Vision (in Christian doctrine, this is when the soul or when angelic beings have seen the Pure Image of God , and the result of such a vision is absolute love and adoration of Divine Providence). Ezekiel 28 states,

"You were on the holy mount of God;
   you walked among the fiery stones."

This meant that Lucifer saw God. He communicated with his Creator Father. Yet, it boggles my mind how this angelic being, the most radiant in God's creation would be so rebellious in as much as to declare war in Heaven against his own Creator and Father. It must be that since Lucifer was blessed with the talents with a plethora of trade that he began to think that he could become like God. Or supplant God.

Ezekiel 28 reiterates in verse 16,

"Through your widespread trade
   you were filled with violence,
   and you sinned."

This is probably why Lucifer was so successful in winning the favor of 1/3rd of all the Angelic Hosts in Heaven to his side. This is the reason why he has been at war with God and the Divine Plan with Creation since his most despicable fall from Grace.

Ezekiel 28 verse 17 tells us that it was Lucifer's beauty, and pride of such beauty, that led to corruption of the Wisdom that he did have.

"17 Your heart became proud
   on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
   because of your splendor."
