The Song of Songs
« on: November 22, 2009, 10:21:29 PM »
I have been reading the Book of Songs/ Song of Songs for some time now, and it truly materializes the Love of God to His Creation; as well as it shares the beauty of love between a man and a woman. I want to share with you all, who are willing to listen and to read with it in appreciation, some specific verses that I find quite enlightening.

Everyone is open to share some verses of the Song of Songs, please give your personal interpretation to verses that you like and hold dear to your hearts.

Truly, the Love of God emanates in the love between a man and a woman.

Thanks and Do Share.

This is one of my particular favorite verses in the Song of Songs:

Chapter 1, verses 7 to 11:

"Tell me, you whom my heart loves,
where you pasture your flock,
where you give them rest at midday,
Least I be found wandering
after the flocks of your companions.

If you do not know,
O most beautiful among women,
Follow the tracks of the flock
and pasture the young ones
near the shepherds' camps.

To the steeds of Pharaoh's chariots
would I liken you, my beloved:
Your cheeks lovely in pendants,
your neck in jewels.
We will make pendants of gold for you,
and silver ornaments.

This is another beautiful verse,

Verses 1 to 7 of Chapter 4 in the Song of Songs:

Ah, you are beautiful, my beloved,
ah, you are beautiful!
Your eyes are doves
behind your veil.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
streaming down the mountains of Gilead.
Your teeth are like a flock of ewes to be shorn.

Which come up from the washing,
all of them big with twins,
none of them thin and barren.
Your lips are the a scarlet strand;
your mouth is lovely.
Your cheek is like a half pomegranate
behind your veil.

Your neck is like David's tower
girt with battlements;
a thousand bucklers hang upon it,
all the shields of valiant men.

Your breasts are like twin fawns,
the young of a gazelle
that browse among the lilies.

Until the day breathes cool and the shadows lengthen,
I will go the mountain of myrrhe,
to the hill of incense.
You are my all-beautiful beloved,
and there is no blemish in you.

Songs 1: 15

How beautiful you are, my darling!
       Oh, how beautiful!
       Your eyes are doves.

Songs 2: 10-13

10 My lover spoke and said to me,
       "Arise, my darling,
       my beautiful one, and come with me.

 11 See! The winter is past;
       the rains are over and gone.

 12 Flowers appear on the earth;
       the season of singing has come,
       the cooing of doves
       is heard in our land.

 13 The fig tree forms its early fruit;
       the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
       Arise, come, my darling;
       my beautiful one, come with me."
