The Act of Bravery Inspires Those Around You:  The Divine Command

The Divine Word In Modern Perspective

by: A. Lorenzo Lucino Jr

At the peak of his night shift , Dr. Ronald Kennsings, who was a general intern working in Raleigh Regional Hospital's Emergency Room, helped stabilize a stab wound patient  while the surrounding medical staff handled other patients in that room. Now when one thinks of a hospital setting, one thinks that there are multifaceted professionals with specific derived tasks: the nurse, the medical technologist, the nursing aides, the respiratory technician, the radiology technician, and the physician. However, there are times when the medical staff is undermanned, and in these times and circumstances , the importance of team work and criteria in selective care is necessitated.

The following hours that night revealed this practical truth. Several hours later, there was a massive traffic accident that occurred in Interstate 95, and the victims that were rescued were dispatched to Raleigh Medical Hospital, and at that moment, the only physician on the floor was Ronald, supported by 5 nurses in the ER that evening. The patients arrived in precipitating order, all together, 9 patients arrived with severe cranial concussions, several laceration injuries, severe internal bleeding cases, and 2 patients came in already unresponsive to CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation).

Ronald and the nursing staff took the helm and treated patients (from most severe to less severe), but at the height of the situation, Ronald found himself dimming and starting to bend psychologically, stressed and weakened by overwork, and the patients needing attention, exacerbated with the fact that he was the only physician on the floor that night. He began to despair, the sounds and the sights of his patients, his colleagues were faded, and he thought to himself, "How could i be placed in this situation? I can't do this, I don't have the strength to pull through this. I'm not good enough a doctor to help all of these people, why did i have to be here now? Someone help me..."

At that exact moment, a voice from the back of his mind came to him and resounded, "You Can Do Anything In My Name. Do Not Give Up. Stand on me, your Solid Ground."

Ronald gently proclaimed, "Jesus Help Me Tonight..." Ronald was strengthened at that moment and was given a surge of importance, his questioning ceased and he performed his duties as necessitated. After an hour of work, 2 other physicians that were on call that night came to the ER to support Ronald, and within 2 hours, all the patients were cared for and stabilized.

Ronald sat in the waiting room trying to clear his mind of the stress when he was approached by 2 registered nurses; the two of them thanked him for staying resilient in the floor and not wavering during the height of the situation. They thanked him and reminded him of how they were encouraged by his bravery and determination. Ronald smiled, and as the nurses walked back to the ER ward, Ronald fixed his eyes on the ceiling and gave a smile of thanks. His faith helped him carry the day and encouraged others around him. He then stood up, and walked back to the ER to handle another patient. Back to work.

"Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I the LORD have spoken, and I will do it.
The Effects Your Courage Will Have On Others"

--Ezekiel 22:14

There is No Limitation To His Love

by: A. Lorenzo Lucino Jr.

In this day in age, particularly in the natural character of man, there seems to be a sense of limitation. There is a limit to how one can take stress of the environment around, a limit to how much one can can bear the stress of work environment, a limitation to how one can endure the pains of a broken heart. Indeed, we all know this. Even nature functions in a limit-based systemic cycle: there is a limit to a food source to sustain a herbivory, likewise, there is a limit a predated food source can support a predatory species.

The world seems to be based on limited causality , limited sustainability, limited expected returns, limited responses.

What I would like to bring up with you , brothers and sisters, is that despite the fact that the world fills us with limitations, there is a source , a power, a well spring from which all good things, from which all things come from. This source, is the very fabric that keeps all things together, all time, all perceptions of reality in sync and in unison. This is the Love of God. The Precious Heart of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior.

Christ tells us that there is no limitation to His Love for us, and this was best displayed in His willingness to take up the cross, and to die for us , His most precious blood spilt instead of our own. That, brothers and sisters, is the best example of unlimited Love. Unselfish Love.

Holy Scripture reiterates Christ's Unlimited Love in Romans Chapter 5 Verses 1-11:

"Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through him. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation."

Yes, the world may set us against our faith, our innate nature to sin may cause us to commit ourselves unworthy of Christ, however, know that Christ does not see you as 'undeserving' souls. You are beloved in His Eyes. Remember, that He was nailed on that cross, beaten, and bruised, and died for you and I. He is, truly, the only example of an Unlimited Love.

There Comes A Time Where Defenses Are No Longer Necessary

by: A. Lorenzo Lucino Jr.

The world seems to be filled with negativity these days, there seems to be threats to one's person, loved ones, and society. We live in a society that has basked with the grandeur of secularism, and with this, the rising tide of religious indifference, threats have risen. As our society continues to battle terrorism , uncertainties may arise. This is natural, and in fact, human instinct finds itself requiring a defensive mechanism.

There are certain aspects where one's defensive mechanisms is seen as harshness, indifference, and spiteful towards others. Clearly this is evident for most of us, even those of us who are quite close to God and walk daily with Him. Given the society we live in, threats to security, the home unit, we as a people have lost that 'trustworthiness' that most of our grandparents, great-grandparents used to live in. And this seems to be a global phenomenon. In the United States, its common to hear older generations of Americans lament on how society has changed as compared to how it was like say 50-60 years ago. A time where it was common to go walking at night, to leave the doors open and unlocked. To eat ice cream with strangeres without fearing any negative consequences.

Nowadays, we hear stories of pedophile rapists taking advantage and predating on un-supervised young, incidents of abuses of the elderly in nursing homes, rampant reports of home invasion and theft, to the all-too-familiar news of rampant homicide cases.

This is also quite common in my homeland, the Philippines, where there are rising cases of sexual tourists who take advantage of the poor and destitute in the Philippines to fill their craving(s), cases of tourism murders, cases of human trafficking and mass exploitation. This effect and change within societies seems to be a global phenomenon. Again, an effect of the unhindered secularism and the loss of the Fear of God.

Brothers and sisters, despite our current circumstance(s), even if the world pits us against our faith, I would like to remind all of you , that there is one force in this world. This force is ever present, ever knowing, ever loving, and requires us to give up our defenses. He wants us to surrender all our fears, our loneliness, our pains, our tribulations, all our troubles to Him. And His Name is Jesus Christ. You see, despite the troubles in your current stage, position in life, there is one who we can be defenseleses with.

---
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

(Matthew 11: 28-31)

---

God Bless You!
