James:4:7-17

7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
11Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 12There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Resist the devil.

So be subject to God. Resist the devil, stand firm against him, and he will flee from you.
Come close to God and He will come close to you, Recognize that you have sinned, get your soiled hands clean; realize that you have been disloyal, wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts of your spiritual adultery, As you draw near to God be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep over your disloyalty, Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame for your sins. Humble yourselves, feeling very insignificant in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you He will lift you up and make your lives significant, My brethren, do not speak evil about or accuse one another. He that maligns a brother or judges his brother is maligning and criticizing the Law and judging the Law. But if you judge the Law, you are not a practicer of the Law but a censor and judge of it. One only is the Lawgiver and Judge Who is able to save and to destroy, the One Who has the absolute power of life and death, But you, who are you that you presume to pass judgment on your neighbor? Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a city and spend a year there and carry on our business and make money. Yet you do not know the least thing about what may happen tomorrow What is the nature of your life? You are really but a wisp of vapor a puff of smoke, a mist that is visible for a little while and then disappears into thin air, You ought instead to say, If the Lord is willing, we shall live and we shall do this or that thing, But as it is, you boast falsely in your presumption and your self-conceit. All such boasting is wrong, So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin.

Before you can fight your enemy, you should first know who he is. Before you can resist the devil, you shoulf be able to recognize him. But how does one recognize a devil in disguise? Some tips?

The Name of Jesus Christ will disperse the devil.

We are told that the Devil will call us to question our faith, call to condemn, he will come like a raging lion willing to consume the weak.
So we are told to be strong and to put on the whole armor of God so we can do battle with him.

And this is true. We are living in a time of spiritual warfare, Hubag.

Read Ephesians 6,

...Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The ochre robes of sainthood proved to be a convenient cover for Santosh Madhavan. Wanted by the Interpol on an embezzlement case, the class XII dropout grew a beard and started living in Thiruvananthapuram under the assumed name of Swami Amrita Chaitanya.

But his fake world collapsed a couple of years ago when a local magazine published a scoop about a pending notice against his gunrunner namesake, wanted in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The magazine was unaware that the Interpol notice for the gunrunner mistakenly carried the fake swamiâ€™s photograph. This notice urged a woman to file a case with the UAE police claiming Madhavan had cheated her of Rs 45 lakhs.

When the news hit the stands, Madhavan disappeared, reemerging later to plead a case of mistaken identity. But cops doubted his credentials and the scrutiny extended to the Shantiteeram Trust established by him in Kochi. What emerged then were shocking tales of sleaze. The man had made benami (anonymous) investments and abused three girls from an orphanage established by him and a 22-year-old woman. Madhavanâ€™s own indiscretion turned out to be the strongest evidence against him â€” he made CDs of his sexual escapades with the girls and these were recovered from his locker after his arrest in May 2008. He was convicted for rape and is currently serving a 16-year term in the Central Prison.

And that is the meaning that the devil will tempt and connive all of us. But as Christians, we are told to be strengthened by the Blood of the Lamb.

I had a conversation before with fellow Catholic Collegiates at a local sojourn to Erie, Pennsylvania several years ago. And the topic that Bishop Donald Trautman, Bishop of the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania, talked about was : Spiritual Warfare and putting the Faith.

It was rather eye opening. Especially he said during these most sensitive of times where the Christian Life and Defense was being attacked and criticized. And enlightening.

"For those of us who are Christians it is easy to recognize the Devil as he works with the ungodly and heathen religions. But can we recognize him in the church? Can we recognize a demonic manifestation in the midst of a Holy Ghost service? Are we sensitive enough to identify what is flesh, what is Spirit and what is demonic? Is it safe for the child of God to speculate whether God is in a service based on external manifestations, volume and sensational feelings? In Hebrews 5:14, the scripture gives greater credibility to those "who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." Unless God genuinely touches our minds with the Holy Ghost and establishes our faith on truth we will be deceived. Until "we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God...unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ..." we will be "tossed to and fro...by every wind of doctrine..." (Eph. 4:13-14). May God grant us the grace to accept the reality of our greatest enemy and the wisdom to recognize him even in his most subtle disguise."

Our Catholic Priest reminded us how to call on the Power of God.
He does battle against the power of satan, May God rebuke him.

Psalm 67: God arises; His enemies are scattered and those who hate Him flee before Him.

As smoke is driven away, so are they driven; as wax melts before the fire, so the wicked perish at the presence of God.

V. Behold the Cross of the Lord, flee bands of enemies.

R. He has conquered, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the offspring of David.

V. May thy mercy, Lord, descend upon us.

R. As great as our hope in Thee.

kuyawan man lang ko ani. sa akong pagkakatoliko, karon pa gyod ko nga naa diay sa pangadye ang circumcision. naay prayers hinoon nga ang tawag ejaculations. but circumcision? it sounds too graphic. 10-year-olds due for circumcision may imagine that the removal of their penile foreskin is exorcising the devil.

The humor that you guys add is effective in making all of us smile. Pero , in regards to the subject baya, tinuud baya ning Spiritual Warfare.

It is an ongoing process, as reminded to us by good preachers such as Fr. Corapi, Mother Angelica of EWTN, and also by Rev. Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the like.
