Its' Christmas time and it's typical for various consumer product suppliers to have ads with a Christmas twist. One particular softdrink catches my attention as well as my concern. In this ad it shows Santa drinking this particular bottle of soft-drink then picks up this "glass ball" (I know there is a correct name for that kind of ball but it somehow escapes me) and starts tilting it and the next things that happen are that a father who is working overtime gets to whisked to his child's recital, a concert pianist gets to be whisked to his family and so forth and so forth. Seems somehow amusing but heart-warming but what bothers me most is that it seems to imply that Santa is more powerful than GOD. Sounds like blasphemy don't you think? And its shown on nationwide if not worldwide TV. Personally, of course it's just amusing for me but how about the little ones and the mal-educated if not uneducated adults who most often think and see that what they see in TV or movies are truths and/or facts. Anyways this is just a piece of my mind but try to ponder among yourselves and see the bigger picture or the subtle alarming messages...
That is why we should never forget the TRUE meaning of CHRIST's Mass. It is the celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, The Savior of the World. If you forget Jesus Christ , you lose track of the entire purpose of this important day of the Liturgical Calendar.
CHRIST's Mass is not about exchanging presents or any materialistic presentation, rather, it is about the celebration of the DIVINE WORD's coming into the world for the forgiveness of sins.
