ORDER OF CREATION AND DISORDER OF THE BEAST
Israel’s God ordered all things into clearly separated categories. The main duty of the priest is to separate holy from common. Israel was the nation of priests. Israel was allowed to eat clean animals but avoid unclean ones. Israel was told not to mix two kinds of material in making its clothes (wool and linen). Israelite man was told not to wear females clothing, and vice versa. The days any type of ceremonial uncleanness clearly separated the days of cleanness. God separated the land from the sea, night from the day, Israel from the Nations, and the list goes on and on and on. Israel’s God is a God of order. However, in Rev. 13:2 we read:
“And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne, and great authority”.
It is in the context of the above Israelite worldview of clear separation into categories, the beast rising from was disorder personified
