Batuan, Bohol - Lawmakers that composed the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice-Mayor Jojie Leyson in this town have completed the two-day workshop training seminar on Effective Local Legislation.

Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, who initiated the said training primarily for barangay officials, expressed gratitude to Vice-Mayor Leyson for inviting his trainers and staff to conduct the activity.

Herrera emphasized that the activity is not solely meant to teach the municipal councilors of the intricacy and nitty-gritty of legislation but to enhance their know-how by way of injecting some trends and updates in legislation.

The councilors painstakingly underwent four modules for basic Resolution/Ordinance drafting, Validity Test of a Valid Ordinance, Legislative Processes/Committee Meetings and Parliamentary Rules and Procedures.
The seminar undertaken by the councilors made this town the first to complete this kind of training which, he hopes, would cascade to other municipalities, said Herrera.

Both Leyson and Mayor Gregoria Pepito expressed gratitude for the holding of the training that benefits the councilors. Pepito also thanked the visitors and resource persons -- Atty. Lahar Ayuban, vgo chief of staff; Dave Mar, head, special project/research unit; Michael Maslog and Ric Obedencio and support staff – for the job well done.

Also gracing the affair were Board Members Ester Corazon Galbreath and Josil Trabajo to boost the morale of the training workshop participants.

Next in line to undertake the seminar would be the newly-elect and re-elected barangay officials of this town, said Herrera after conferring with Leyson and Pepito.
